One of my favourite lenses is the Peleng 8mm, an extreme wide-angle made in Russia. It's cheap (currently $343 from this American site - http://www.peleng8.com/) and is a good, solid build. Optically it isn't a match for glass from the mainstream manufacturers but then, at the price, you don't expect it to be. It is non-automatic so you have to set the aperture on the lens manually and choose the shutter speed using the camera's manual setting. It's a fun lens and is great for the odd novelty shot.
Here are some examples of the kind of results you can get with it.
