I went to Killarney today to photograph the Upper Torc River. The easiest way to get there is to take the second turn left after Molly Darcy's pub and drive up the to the carpark. An alternative would be to drive on to the Torc Waterfall carpark and climb up the path from there. I chose the former as I wanted to avoid the families - this is Mid-Term week - going to visit the Waterfall.
The day was overcast and blustery with occasional rain - just right for my purposes as I did not want any sunshine interfering with my long exposures. I was after the "flow" effect that such exposures give to moving water. Some people hate this effect thinking it unnatural and/or clichéd; others love it. I am firmly in the latter camp. So, I made my way down from the car park to the Old Torc Bridge and I spent about an hour there. I used the 17-40L and the 24-105L on the 5D Mark 11. A Lee 0.9 ND filter was used for them all in order to lengthen the exposure times which ranged from 2 secs to 10 secs at an aperture of f/16. Naturally, my trusty Manfrotto tripod was used for support and a cable release triggered the shutter. Here are some of the results:
